What we do: CERCOPAN works to conserve Nigeria’s primates through sustainable rainforest conservation, community partnerships, education, primate rehabilitation and research.
CERCOPAN's work encompasses a huge variety of activities, which all contribute to achieving our mission. We work with local forest communities in the rainforests of Cross River State, Nigeria, to jointly manage their tropical rainforest - the habitat of the forest monkeys that we work very hard to protect. We carry out research on the plants and animals in the rainforest and help local people earn a living from forest-friendly activities. We also prioritize education, reaching out to schools to encourage young people to interact positively with nature. We rescue and rehabilitate orphaned primates so they can once more live in the wild.
We need volunteers to: help with expertise in Construction, Electrics (particularly solar), Computers, and Veterinary Care.
Non-cash donations needed: Educational materials (stationary, workbooks, etc), reading books, children’s toys (for prizes), torches, cameras, kitchen utensils, boots, watches, computer equipment (USBs, external hard drives, etc), padlocks, veterinary supplies, first aid supplies, printer cartridges.
