Who we are:
Aputula is a remote Aboriginal community located on the South-side of Alice Springs, 159 km east of the Stuart Highway near the South Australia and Northern Territory borders. On most maps the community is known as Finke. The Aputula Aboriginal Corporation implements initiatives to promote a healthier lifestyle to the people in the community. It also governs the community’s local store. One initiative involved the introduction of the Aputula Healthy Community Days. The corporation runs these days to promote messages of health and to raise awareness throughout the community.
Type of knowledge or skills needed:
The members of the community have a quantity of dirtbikes and quadbikes which need maintenance ranging from minor to major repairs. This is also a training initiative in conjunction with local members of the community. Please note: As each organisation provides different levels/types of insurance, volunteers are reminded to check with the organisation as to the type of insurance provided for volunteers (eg: Volunteer Personal Accident Insurance).
