Who we are: Congo Action, based in Maidstone, Kent, enables people in the Kivu province of the Democratic Republic of Congo to use their skills and resources to combat poverty by building sustainable primary schools in remote areas where children have no access to schooling, helping with school fees by running a sponsorship programme, enabling older students to access further education, financing training programmes - especially for women, assisting communities with small loans to further their own economic self-sufficiency and providing disabled children and adults with adapted equipment.
Type of knowledge or skills needed: Any skill that may help the committee in Kent such as secretarial, financial, fund raising etc. French is spoken in Congo and yearly visits by the charity are made but no English charity member is resident in Congo. We have excellent Congolese contacts.
Non-cash donations: Because of the cost and difficulty of getting donations to their Congolese destination we no longer accept non-cash donations unless you wish to personally take these to our contacts in Kivu.
