Who we are:
Hand in Hand for Syria is a UK registered charity that was established in 2011 at the start of the Syrian uprising. We are a non-political organisation funded by individual donations. Our aim is to provide medical and humanitarian assistance to civilians affected by the uprising in Syria, this includes people still inside Syria as well as those who have fled to neighbouring countries.
Type of knowledge or skills needed:
Perhaps you work for a media channel or write for a newspaper, journal or online blog? If so we can provide you with multimedia, eyewitness reports and stories from our volunteers who have been out to do field work. If journalism is not your speciality, you can link our website to your own, forward on our mail shots, distribute our fundraising flyers, connect with us via your social media networks or spread the word about upcoming events.
Many of donors who support our work choose to donate to our general funds, which allows us to use their donation wherever it is needed most. Unrestricted income such as this allows us to respond most effectively to the changing situation inside Syria. If you prefer, you may also choose to support a project directly and we have a wide range of projects suitable for such a support. It is easy for you to choose to fund areas of our work that you feel most closely match your charitable aims.

Any further information the volunteer should know?:
HIHS regards ‘speaking out’ about the plight of people caught in the Syrian crisis as a core part of our work. We therefore want to be as helpful as possible to journalists covering humanitarian and medical issues. Guaranteeing anonymity to our volunteers is core to the function of our work. We will co-operate as fully as possible with journalists and broadcasters but ask that the identities of our spokespeople remain anonymous.
