Down Syndrome South Africa (DSSA)

What we do: DSSA is a non profit organization officially registered in 2000. We offer training and support to our branches who go into their communities to work directly with people with Down syndrome and other developmental delays. We have representation in each province of South Africa. Our branches offer early intervention therapy, counseling, placing children with Down syndrome and other developmental delays into schools, programmes for young adults, employment for people with DS and other developmental delays. Our branches also work with local clinics, hospitals, schools etc.

We need volunteers to: DSSA as a national office do not need volunteers as we offer training to our branches. Our branches are actively working with people with Down syndrome and other intellectual delays. Volunteers are needed for fundraisers, professionals who are in the medical field (Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists, Physio, Dr's, Genetic nurses etc).

Non-cash donations needed: Second hand clothing, household items we have a Jumble sale which assists with funding towards our rent. Old toys, office furniture, office supplies etc
