What we do: “….creating a home that can give parental care, love, understanding, security and happiness but above all the sense of belonging to family life that every child deserves.
Founded in 2009 by Kerry Watson from Staffordshire, UK Footprints opened its doors to our first 5 children in April 2010. Footprints is now home to 18 children and is a integral part of the local community. A Registered Charity in the UK, Registration Number 1126967, Footprints is exceptional in that it is also registered with and recognised by the Kenyan Children’s Department and Registered as a Charitable Children Institution.
Living and managing day-to-day life in Footprints Kerry and the Trustees guarantee that every penny donated to Footprints is spent directly for the support and welfare of the children.
We need volunteers to: Help out with the day-to-day running of the home and education of the children. This could include cleaning, cooking, maintenance or new building projects as well as playing games or reading with the children or helping the teachers in lessons. Volunteers stay in basic but clean accommodation in this rural part of Kenya and eat traditional food with the children and staff. As Footprints is a living and working environment, you will be expected to undertake the programme with a sense of initiative and independence in order to get the most enjoyment out of your stay.
Non-cash donations needed: Footprints is grateful for donations of education material (books, DVDs); children’s clothes; food; equipment (laptops; generators; solar panels); printing; promotional material. Items such as children's and adult clothing, toothpaste and soap for our children's home. Please email email@example.com to find out what we are most in need of at the moment.
If you are visiting Kenya and you can are willing to donate any items such as those listed above (or similar) we would be very grateful. Credential letters can be provided to help with any potential customs checks in Kenya.
Please do not attempt to post or courier any items to Footprints in Kenya – apart from the fact that items may go astray significant import taxes may be charged.
Footprints always welcomes personal and professional skills to assist with every aspect of daily life.
