Who we are: The Kindu Trust is a small, UK registered charity, working with communities in Northern Ethiopia. The key focus of our work is our Child Sponsorship Programme, which supports children from very poor families from a young age right through to graduation from University or Vocational Training courses. We currently help around 300 families in Ethiopia.
In addition to our Sponsorship Programme, we run a number of other projects designed to benefit our sponsored children and their family members, ranging from Play Groups and HIV+ Coffee Mornings to Income Generating Activities such as Jewellery Making, and Injera Baking!
Type of knowledge or skills needed: We seek volunteers to develop our livelihood projects, and to work for our Kindu Klub, (running educational activities and play groups). We seek volunteers on gap years, work secondments, sabbaticals and who simply have free time.
Non-cash donations: We are keen to receive donations of children's clothing, educational materials, movies. Simply contact us to find out more.

Any further information the volunteer should know? The Kindu Trust Volunteer Programme provides an opportunity to gain firsthand experience of working in the field with an international development charity; and a chance to soak up Ethiopia’s rich culture. Volunteers will be fully accommodated at our Kindu Trust apartment. This is a completely not for profit scheme, all costs are spent on volunteer accommodation with the rest being spent on our community programmes.
