Who we are: Pump Aid is a charity that works directly with communities in rural Africa and water and sanitation solutions. Our solutions are appropriate, affordable and sustainable technologies. The Elephant Pump is an adapted ancient Chinese rope pump design for water pumps that uses locally available materials ensuring the Elephant Pump’s sustainability. The Elephant Toilet was developed to tackle the issue of inadequate sanitation. This is another low cost, technology appropriate, design that communities are benefiting from and will continue to do so for many years to come.
Type of knowledge or skills needed: Volunteers are needed in the London office as we do not have a volunteering programme in sub-Saharan Africa. Knowledge of the fundraising and charity sector are needed. Fundraising and administrative skills as well as good writing proficiency and communicative skills are also required. I.T. skills and proficiency with programs such as Microsoft Excel are desirable.
Non-cash donations: No goods are needed but (advisory) services would be useful to Pump Aid.
